GMPR MPR CP Iowa Pointing Labs Double Grits is the most talented pointing lab we have ever owned. The best and most respected pointing lab trainer in the country Mike Lattau at K and L kennels said,”Tex is the most overall talented pointing labI have ever trained and titled to the GMPR level, I wish all the dogs came in this talented”. Wow that really says it all. Our kennel has over 30 years of hunting with labs and pointing breeds. We switched to breeding only pointing labs after we hunted behind a Black forest Grits pup. That dog actually was better than our pointing dogs at hunting. His retrieving had high octane with an incredible desire to train. It has taken us 12 years to finally put together and bring to our breeding program the Grits bloodline. Tex has the desire to retrieve and mark like the field trial breed Labrador. He could train all day as he absolutely loves to work. He needs little to no pressure while training as you need to show him and he gets it. He is a very watery dog and can handle any hunt test thrown at him. He has pointed since 8 weeks old. He has a very staunch point that is intense. He has always naturally pointed birds. This is what truly makes him rare. He points like a phenomenal pointing lab should with an awesome nose to hunt and find birds and has that field trial like desire to retrieve. Rarely to you get both at Tex’s level in one dog. His prey drive is the highest we have ever seen. He has jumped over 6 foot kennels to get to the bird pens. We have several stories about Tex that are unique. He also has that stocky blocky build in the head and shoulders weighing in at 68lbs. He looks bigger because of his blocky build. His grandpa on the bottom pedigree and great grandpa on the top is the Hall of Famer GMPR Grits of Black Forest and that in our opinion is how Tex was developed. The original owners of Black Forest Kennels said,”Grits of Black Forest was the best producing pointing lab they have ever owned.
Dam Chalcedon Shady is a line breeding of the Tubb’s bloodline. She is a very good looking female Labrador. She is very easy to train and awesome in the field hunting and pointing upland birds and is very loving as she loves people and wants to be part of the family. She has a strong nose to find the birds and has a rock solid point for the hunter to be proud of. She has those great looks that the Tubb’s line is known for. She loves to retrieve ducks from the water all day. She weighs 60lbs with a strong confirmation. Shady is a very smart dog and easy to train. Her grandmother is a CP titled dog that won an open championship against the traditional pointing breeds. When I saw Shady’s grandmother Swetnam’s Farms Shady CP do that my breeding focus was strictly Pointing Labradors from that day on. Our Shady took along time to produce (12 years) but we stayed focused and did it.
